- In earlier versions of Elevate, if you were analyzing more than one elevator configuration, you could skip between results by pressing the "Next Results" and "Previous Results" buttons on the toolbar. Now you can view and print a summary of all your results - just press the new "Summary Results" button.
- Simulation results now include an analysis of Motor Starts.
Authorship Engineering analysis software relies on the expertise of its author(s).
All analysis routines implemented in Elevate are designed and implemented by Dr Richard Peters. Dr Peters is a Chartered Engineer and was awarded his doctorate for research in Vertical Transportation Planning in Building. Before forming Peters Research in 1997, he worked for 10 years with a major international consultancy. Elevator traffic analysis software written by Dr Peters has been in use and applied internationally since 1989.
Elevate is programmed in C++ using the latest object orientated software technology. We make extensive use of Mathcad mathematical software to implement whole sections of analysis code (e.g. the compete up peak and general analysis calculations, generation of lift speed profiles). This allows us to compare results between two independent implementations of analysis techniques, and to correct inconsistencies if they occur. We maintain a set of standard “test files” to check for consistency between versions.
We welcome every opportunity to compare results with other elevator traffic analysis software. In our experience of comparing results between programs, discrepancies in results between RTT calculations are normally due to inconsistencies in assumptions made about the input data. Round trip time and simulation calculations give different results (interval versus waiting time). Results are broadly consistent, but it should be remembered that all RTT greatly simplify the analysis - all calculations are based on extrapolating the time taken for a single lift to travel “average distances” with an “average number of people” in the car. Simulation results also vary according to the control system applied. We have implemented a number of alternatives control systems, and continue to increase the number of systems available.
